Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

Before I indulge in a migrane, does anyone have a QUICK solution to
the problem of MAX(0+charcol) being used in a select to retrieve the
maximum number used from a table, NOT working under SE 5.01.UD3 when
running with SUN Solaris 2.4.
Under our development system (SE 4.10.UD2 on SCO) max(0+charcol)
treats all non-numeric charcol data as 0 thus procducing the desired
result of returning the maximum for that data which is numeric in
content. On the production environment we get a -1213 SQL error.
The only thing I can think of at present is to attempt to preclude
all invalid entries from the select by individually testing each
character to ensure that it is numeric. Does anyone have a better
solution?
Cheers, Ian.
