Can't drop dbspace?

Due to a couple of circumstances, a dbspace we've created can't be dropped...we're running online 7.22 on Solaris 2.6 using raw disks partitions. The circumstances were a) root was still the partition owner when the dbspace was created (and was changed to informix prior to the attempt to drop the space) and b) 2 links to the same raw partition were defined (different names). The result is that no matter who we are as owners, root or informix, we can't drop the dbspace...get a cryptic "internal error" message. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
