Informix License Manager Documentation

Greetings, I have apparently fixed an interesting problem with Informix, but it required issuing a command that seemed to be beyond the scope of the documentation that comes with the software. The main question is: does anyone remember where the documentation for the license manager is located? My site has the following configuration: Platform: Sun SparcStation 2 Engine: Informix Online 5.01.UC1 Other: Informix 4GL 4.10.UC1 Informix SQL 4.10.UC1 Informix ESQL/C 4.10.UC1 Informix Star 4.10.UC1 1-16 user license Apparently, the Online came with a license manager that appears in other packages as well. In fact, the Interleaf 5.0 release has exactly the same binary for its license manager. The license manager is made by Highland Software, Inc. We have been receiving an error "Too many open files" (and if memory serves me, this is an error -461) whenever I attempted to open a data base on the server that I was working with. What I intuited was that something was wrong with the way the license administration was working because I still would get the error when I brought the engine to offline mode and restarted the Online engine. After I brought up the engine to online status I issued the command 'lmreread'. Apparently the command was safe because all of us who were on the machine were not running Informix applications. (The tip-off was that nothing appeared wrong in the tbstat comand.) Anybody have any experiences with the license manager that should be paid attention to? ..Tom -- Thomas A.
