Does mirroring rootdb make sense since the MTBF of hard disks are often over 100,000 hours? Mirroring rootdb is mainly for hardware failures. Are there any other advantages to mirroring rootdb other than for a hardware failure? Does mirroring degrade performance to any significant degree? We are running Informix 5.0 on an IBM RS/6000 980. Thanks in advance. -- / ___ \\/\\ \\ /\\ ___\\/\\ __ \\/\\__ _\\ Peter Farley /\\ ___ \\ \\ \\__\\ \\ __\\\\ \\ __<\\/_/\\ \\/ Database Administator \\ \\ \\_/\\ \\ \\____\\ \\_____\\ \\_\\ \\_\\ \\ \\_\\ Alert Centre, Inc., Englewood, CO \\/_/ \\/_/\\/____/\\/_____/\\/_/\\/_/ \\/_/ pef@alert.com/(303)488-7858
