We are having problems distributing Viewpoint pro reports in a New era application. We are running our application from a network drive (to make updates easier) and users icons on their desktops point to this exe. The run time is installed locally on the pc's. When the user runs the report, the VPPro runtime comes up, and the user gets a error saying the file cannot be opened- this is the .vpr file. This is due to the Novell not letting users write to the directory where the application and reports are stored. We opened up the directory permissions and found that VPPro tries to write temp files to the directory. This causes the next problem: If one user has a report open, and a second tries to open, they get a read only - do a file save as error and the second and subsequent reports will open. This is terrible. Did informix write the VVPro with the thinking that EVERYONE would run off the C; drive? Poor coding if this is the case. I also cannot print reports with my HP 4si printer unless I use HPLJIII drivers or postscript drivers. Not all of us have this...Is there a work around. Any suggestions??? Thanks in advance... James Saville Please reply to my e-mail also, as I cant get here too often.
