I think a better alternative is to use WORDWRAP on a single field. WORDWRAP became available with version 4.0 (4.1?). Your .per looks like: [f001 ] [f001 ] ... [f001 ] ... f001 = patient.notes, WORWRAP, ...; The 4GL code can treat these multiple lines as a single field. ======================================================================= Dennis J.
