IUS memory corruption issues

INFORMIX-Universal Server Version 9.14.UC4
Solaris 2.5.1
web.3.32.UC1
This week I was designing/writing our own local flavor
of memory checking routines wrapped around mi_alloc and
mi_free to be used in C UDRs written here. To test it I
would purposely write pass the buffer.
I noticed that IUS does not behave well once one piece
of memory allocated from the server (via mi_alloc) gets
its bounds overrun. The server throws an exception something
like:
16:17:41 Assert Failed: Memory block header corruption detected in
mt_shm_malloc_segid 2
16:17:41 INFORMIX-Universal Server Version 9.14.UC4
16:17:41 Who: Session(17, informix@---.---.---, 262, 0)
Thread(29, sqlexec, 0, 1)
File: mtshpool.c Line: 2759
16:17:41 Results: Pool repaired
It says it is repaird, but the server becomes unresponsive after
this (cant onmode -yuk it) it just hangs there.
Does anyone know if this is a bug filed with informix on this,
or if there is a setting I need to set to make it respond better
when a memory block become corrupted? Any discussions are welcomed on
the subject.
