Posted in 2010
Topics: Backup & Restore
Hi All,
I have a table that i want to restore from our PROD env to DEV. We have a FULL
backup of the DB using onbar (IN PROD) and i want to restore just 1 table into
our DEV env. Can i use the "archecker" command? The archecker version is
IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 9.40.UC5W2
Program Name: archecker
Version: 4.7
will this version works?
what are the parameters to restore a table level, point in time recovery.
thanks,
Hi All, I did some experiment but still not able to come up with success. STATUS: IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 9.40.UC5W2 Program Name: archecker Version: 4.7 Released: 10/27/04 23:33 Compiled: 10/27/04 23:34 on AIX 1 5 STATUS: AC_STORAGE /tmp STATUS: AC_MSGPATH /tmp/ac_msg.log STATUS: AC_TIMEOUT 300 STATUS: AC_VERBOSE on STATUS: BAR_BSALIB_PATH /usr/lib/ibsad001.so STATUS: AC_TAPEBLOCK 124 kb ERROR: Unable to locate object. BSAGetObject failed with 26 (object not found) ERROR: BSAEndData returned 3 ( System Error ) ... Is there someone who knows how to resolve this issue?. Can't find much information from forums. Another question is if my INSTANCE1 dbspaces is not = to INSTANCE2 dbspaces should i be able to restore? table level or DB level? http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21216345 IS Version 4.7 of Archecker supported? How to restore from Instance1 as SOURCE and INstance2 as destination?
Yes, the latest archecker releases can do point in time single table data
extraction/restore. I do not, however, remember if the 9.40 release had
this capability.

Post your archecker config file. It is not a problem to restore to a different instance with different dbspaces. The archecker extracts the data from the archive and uses SQL to optionally create a table to hold the data and then inserts the rows into it. But you have to specify all that in the config file. One thing I see wrong is the AC_TAPEBLOCK. In later version of archecker
this will
read the onconfig file if present and set it automatically, but you can
always override it
by manually specific in the ac_config file. You currently have it set to
124 KB according
to the log.
My guess is you should set AC_TAPEBLOCK to 60. If you are using onbar
this would be BAR_XFER_BUF_SIZE * online page size
For AIX the defaults are
BAR_XFER_BUF_SIZE 60KB
online page size 4KB
AC_TAPEBLOCK 60
While I still think there are a few more issues, here are a few
suggestions:
1. Look at the presentation done at IIUG conferences
2. set AC_DEBUG to get more information
3. I do not see you ixbar file being printed out. please
check to make sure that is set correctly.
