WANTED: editor for INFORMIX

Sirs, I'm looking for an editor for Informix-Text-Blobs. Emacs is a good choice. I can customize key-definitions to an Informix mode (ESC = exit, Insert, Delete ....). But emacs is very large. Vi is to difficult to learn for nonprogrammers. I tried JOVE, but it seems, that JOVE works only correct with vt100 terminals. On our terminals (SIEMENS 97801) Jove works wrong. Do You know a good and small editor for editing with function-key support.
