Can you trust Ambush?

Sorry, but I think that's pretty much a fitting name for Ambuj. He comes from nowhere (Lotus) to head up the IBM IM pillar. He says whatever you want to hear, yet when it come time to deliver, WHAM! nothing. More smoke and mirrors and he fades back in to the NY suburbs... Sure the product is being enhanced. But lets get real. Under Ambush, nothing, nothing has been done to help teach IBM S&D how to sell IDS. So sorry, but doing "all hands" conference calls doesn't cut it. And yes, I've been on a lot of those calls because I had to. The buck stops at Ambush. You have to understand that IBM IM has an obligation to continue to maintain and improve IDS. One would expect that they would have the same commitment in S&D and in SMB and White Space, sell the product. The reality, Business Partners (that's some of you who read/post here) are the ones who have expanded the IDS market. Anyone bother to check my head count of IDS IT Specialists in Central North? C'mon, don't take my word for it. Call your IBMer buds and ask them to check it out. The sad truth is that Ol' Gumby got his numbers straight. Anyone bother to ask their IBMer buds as to who covers Hyatt these days? Its not the local Chicago team. As to why Hyatt is important, where do you think the name Regency came from? (Regency was Informix's premiere services support program...) But hey! What do I know? ;-) -G
Gumbi, Do you know of a good replacement for Ambush? -ID-

He knows the Ascential and IM products as well as has cross pillar experience. Not sure that he'll want it though. There are others within IM who probably aspire to be the top dog, however, some of them would just as soon kill IDS off and continue Janet's plan for DB2 to be their *only* platform. Man it feels like we're talking about Russia and the "old guard" wanting to return to power.... Of course since we're on the outside, we'll never know the truth of the tape. What are the license numbers? Revenue numbers? And considering that IBM *cant* sell IDS, its all the more amazing, don't 'cha think? I'd personally would rather have Alyse P's job. Not that I don't relish a global sales position, but you can bet your bottom dollar, I'd do things that *would* get the sales team behind IDS without using Charlie Ills' scare tactics.
