Within a few days after i wrote it, I was indeed contacted by a friendly person from the Informix ODBC driver development team, who has been very helpful. And further tests in a clean environment with the ODBC driver from I-Connect 2.90TC3 showed that the problem I encountered with "linked tables" in Access 2003 and I-Connect 2.81TC3 and also my first tests with 2.90 was now solved.
