You have a powerful way out from DB/Cockpit: Pipe option of the alarms. You can find it in the right-most part of Cockpit Alarm Request window (click Edit->Alarms->Edit->New/Modify). To activate this option, click on Pipe toggle, and then you can write a program name (this program will receive alarm information on stdin). Try 'cat' here. Then you can use any filter you want. Please pay your attention, besides of Pipe there are 2 additional options here: Mail (write down e-mail address) and Log file (alarms will be appended to this file). Don't forget to activate an appropriate toggle button. After you defined alarm, click OK in Cockpit Alarm Request window. In order to activate your alarm, click Options->Replace in Cockpit Alarm Editor window. You can save your alarm(s) with File->Save/Save_as in Cockpit Alarm Editor window. Vitaly PS We are working to review DB/Cockpit user guide and clarify the usage of alarms. > > I am working with Informix's DB/Cockpit tools to generate alarms > and hope to pipe the results into a C or C++ program.
