Using Informix with Another DBMS Product

(sybase?) because I haven't seen any activity there for a while, in fact it may have been my imagination. Our warehouse box had a copy of Kenan (an MDD) on the same box for a while, we found that data expansion algorithms (MDDs) got in the way of real disk requriements tho, and moved to our own box. The addition of each new engine has caused me some chagrin when I go out and look at why my process is slowing down - "Hey! There's an Ingres engine out there". Especially recently when 3 Oracle engines decided to take up 100% of the cpu ("No, their not runaways, that's normal for an idling Oracle engine", "you sure?"). Overall there has been very little impact. Sure things go a little slower, but not appreciably. But then this is a development box and aside from stress tests does not get the kind of use you might expect from a real live OLTP box. It does get a work out though. No problems from memory or disk conflicts. I can still load data @ 400MB/hr - in other words my engine isn't slower, my applications are. cheers j. _____________________________________________________________________________ Jack Parker - Hewlett Packard, DMD/IS Boise, Idaho, USA jparker@hpbs3645.boi.hp.com _____________________________________________________________________________ "I'm with the IRS, I'm here to help you" _____________________________________________________________________________ Any opinions expressed herein are my own and not those of my employers. _____________________________________________________________________________
