Good Question and one I would love to see someone from Informix answer. It really wasn't that long ago that a 3-500 MB Database was considered large. Snicker if you will but it's true. Now we talk in Terrabytes of data. Is a small table anything less than a GIG...or one that has an INDEX size of less than a GIG. Inquiring minds want to know... I would think that what constitiutes a small table on a Sun E10000 may be a big table on an Ultra5. I would define a "small" table in this instance as any table that you could run "update statistics high" in under 5 minutes or whatever time works for you (unless you have 500 "small" tables).
