Miele jam@perk.jpr.com ->Dir MIS Spectraserv, Inc. 76207.1365@compuserve.com Alan Popiel <alan@po.den.mmc.com> now answers: The Oracle program SQL*Loader does a poor job of handling variable length, delimited data. On the other hand, it does a great job handling input data with fixed length fields and no delimiters. I found it a lot easier to write a simple Informix report to create fixed field length data, than to write a SQL*Loader control script to read variable length data. A second issue that affected my decision, but might not apply in your case, was that the Oracle tables did not match one-for-one with the Informix tables. My Informix reports converted the data from the Informix table structure to the Oracle table structure. Regards, Alan ___________________________ ______________________| R.
