It's not clear to me why you are using "automatic". The "continuous" option seems to do what you want: it backs up the log as soon as it has been completed. When you use it with tape it appends. I assume it would also do the same when backing up to a disk. Perhaps the trouble is with the names - "Automatic" would be better described as "manual" and "continuous" would be better described as "automatic". Ian
