Running SE on Linux
Posted in 1996
Good Day Informix Masters! I work for a computer software house in Rivonia ,South Africa. The powers that be have decided they would like to access an Informix database (SE) from a Fully interactive web site. Now I have heard that you can install informix for SCO 3.2.5 on Linux ,However linux cannot read the SCO binaries .I have tried to strip these binaries to 'elf 32 bit' binaries that Linux should understand and have subsequently generated segmentation faults. I have downloaded isqlperl & dbperl for informix ,I am running perl 5.003 .The only part I am missing is the informix. Which brings me back to the subject of this message, I have heard mention of an emulator of some kind for linux that allows you to install and run SCO products on Linux .I have not seen it ,nor have I met anyone who can tell me where I can find it. Could a kind - informed - soul please tell me : a) If such an 'emulator' does exist b) Where I might find this tool b) If it is in fact possible to install SE on Linux c) Procedure for doing this I hope that someone can shed some light on this subject for me. Thanks in advance David Conn (Internet ? - Programmer at large!) ------------------------------------------------------------------ | Oracle is'nt the answer ,Oracle is the question | | and the answer is NO | | Send me some mail : david@west.co.za | | Hit my web site : http://www.west.co.za/david.htm | ------------------------------------------------------------------
