Problem with ODBC on AIX

Simplest damn thing in the world. main() { HENV henv; HDBC hdbc; SQLAllocEnv(&henv); SQLAllocConnect(henv, &hdbc); SQLConnect(hdbc, "Informix", SQL_NTS, 0, SQL_NTS, 0, SQL_NTS); } cc -g -I${INFORMIXDIR}/odbc/include -w -Dunix \\ -L${INFORMIXDIR}/lib -o t t.c -lodbc and I am getting (on stderr) VGLoadLibrary: unable to load /usr/informix/odbc/lib/libifmx07.so.1, 3 _XmSt /usr/informix/odbc/lib/libodbcconn.a libodbcconn.so.1, 3 XtShe /usr/informix/odbc/lib/libodbcconn.a libodbcconn.so.1, 3 XtStr /usr/informix/odbc/lib/libodbcconn.a libodbcconn.so.1, 3 XmWid /usr/informix/odbc/lib/libodbcconn.a libodbcconn.so.1. I am getting as crazy as a rat in a coffee can trying to figure out what "XtShe" and so forth might be. The following labels (which appear to be Motif and X-windows related) do appear as externs in libodbcconn.a, but not as global in any X library. XmWidgetGetDisplayRect XtStrings XtShellStrings _XmStrings I tried link in dummy versions of the labels (long and short version) to no effect. Questions: why is there any X stuff in libodbcconn.a? why are there *bad* X stuff in libodbcconn.a? why don't the dummy versions work? why are the names truncated? WHAT DO I DO? M.
