On the other : hand it is sometimes getting late and I probably have missed something. You shouldn't use /devices/.... Just simply "chown informix:informix /dev/rdsk/c0t2d0s7" and "chmod 660 /dev/rdsk/c0t2d0s7" ^^^^^^^^ (check the real device from format) And your symbolic link should link to c0t2d0s7 under /dev/rdsk not /devices/...
