New Era program written for local engine on online

I have an old (obviously) NewEra program running on a local SE database. It needs to run on a laptop running OWS. I have created the database tables, etc with the same name database on the laptop. Of course, the program can't connect since the name on the development machine is database@local and the laptop is database@online. I can't rebuild the program on the local machine (laptop just has runtimes). Is there any way to handle this? Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Share what you know. Learn what you don't.

In you sqlhosts file on the client create a server with the name of the server as the clients expect it to be but with the host address and service port of the "real" OWS server. The Informix handshaking protocol does not include the servername so the clients can think they are talking to DBSERVERNAME fred when they are actually seeing DBSERVERNAME wilma. Art S. Kagel
