Question on HDR: how to bring primary back to as p

Hello Informix Gurus, Say my primary instance is down or shut down on purpose, depending on my configuration, I manually bring secondary to online as standalone or standard mode (by onmode -d standard). There are updates going on into my secondary (now as standard mode). How do you fix this replication pair? I want to bring primary back online as primary and secondary as readonly as they were before. Thanks for any inputs.

If the log that was current when the primary was shutdown is still online on the old secondary you can follow the steps below, otherwise (or if you think that recovery will take too long that way) you will have to take a level 0 archive from the old secondary (currently running stand-alone), do a physical restore to the old primary (ontape -p or the equivalent onbar command), then follow the steps skipping #2: 1. Declare the running server to be primary to the original server: 1. onmode -d secondary <original_primary> 2. Bring up the old primary in recovery mode 1. oninit -PHY 3. Declare the restored/restarted server to be the secondary: 1. onmode -d primary <original_secondary> 4. Wait for the newly minted secondary server has caught up 1. Monitor with onstat -g dri on both servers until they are on the same log page 2. There are scripts in $INFORMIXDIR/bin (hdrmkpri.sh & hdrmksec.sh) to do the rest. Run either with no arguments to see the remaining steps: 5. Steps to switch server types in an HDR pair: Instance A (currently Primary) Instance B (currently Secondary) ------------------------------ -------------------------------- 1] onmode -ky (server should be up) 2] hdrmkpri.sh <primary_server_name> 3] hdrmksec.sh <secondary_server_name> (now a Secondary server) 4] oninit (now a Primary server) Art Art S.
