Why ask why?
:-)
They can get the FAQ, and of course they can download these ideas any
time.
But if you've followed the Informix story as long as I have, the energy
level
at Informix seems to have tapered off to a coma.
In 1987 or so there was this crazy idea I had that I was working with a
company who
had all these intelligent geniuses working for them, and they were going
to change
everything about UNIX, and prove to the world that somehow you didn't
need a mainframe
to develop multi-user software.
When I started working with 4GL, I had to constantly defend it.
"Informix? never
heard of them" was a constant litany. I remember when I would hear
there was a
company that actually bought Informix, and they were using 4GL. After
the shock
wore off, I would begin to think again that maybe they were on the way
up. But for
as long as I've known about Informix, their marketing has absolutely
SUCKED.
So, give them the FAQ? I would imagine many at Informix who don't even
know it
exists, or where to find it--your idea may not be a bad one.
:-)
Now, with all that's happened with the company, I really wonder where
the intelligence
has gone, or the company vision. It sure must be a bummer to work for a
company that
doesn't have a marketing plan, or public relations campaign, or a decent
web site for
developers. Absolutely abysmal.

I'll add this to the list. And there's still plenty of time for more
ideas and
suggestions...
