database locale information mismatch

Hi *.* On one of my servers I have two databases (lets say dba and dbb) cretated using different DB_LOCALEs (default and de_DE.1252). When I use use dba and then do: select <whatever> from dbb:sometable I get error -23197: database locale information mismatch. Is there any way around this? You need DB_LOCALE to be appropriate to database you want to access. If you had created dbb database using de_de.1252 you must set DB_LOCALE to de_de.1252 otherwise you may encounter problems - or even get error. By the way - Is it possible to use nchar data type in 4gl programs? I have different client terminals: pl_pl.mazovia and pl_pl.8859-2 and I need my 4gl program to display nchars on both terminals. RW

Hi again :>
Thank you for your answer but this wont help. My problem
isnt to connect to the two databases individually
(lets say with dbaccess). The error only occurs when
I am connected to one of the databases and do a select
on tables in the other one.
Take care
Dirk

Just another feature, or "... by design" to use a Microsoft term. Check out "Informix Guide to GLS Functionality" at Answers OnLine. Thomas
