Here all CPU has it's own memory and other CPU's can not directly access that memory. Hence LCP - loosely coupled. When you have lots of CPU i.e. 100's/ 10000's (16364 is the most I;ve heard of) then if they all access the same memory bus this becomes a serious bottleneck. So MPP (Massively Parallel Processing) machine have each CPU with its own private memory and a message passing method of communicating. 8.o also works with Multiple machines treated as one machine. In summary, they are 2 separate paths of the same architecture. -- David Williams
