Hi,
here is excerpt from "IDS Administrator's Reference Guide."
-------
You can specify a NETTYPE parameter for each protocol that you want the
database server to use. The following example illustrates NETTYPE
parameters for two types of connections to the database server: a shared
memory connection for local clients, and a network connection that uses
sockets:
NETTYPE ipcshm,3,,CPU
NETTYPE soctcp,,20,NET
The NETTYPE parameter for the shared-memory connection (ipcshm) specifies
three poll threads to run in CPU virtual processors. The number of
connections is not specified, so it is set to 50. The NETTYPE parameter for
the sockets connection (soctcp) specifies that only 20 simultaneous
connections are expected for this protocol and that one poll thread
(because the number of poll threads is not specified) will run in a network
virtual processor (in this case, NET).
-------
For more details refer to NETTYPE configuration parameter in Admin guide.

Hi,
I've got this line on my $ONCONFIG file:
NETTYPE ipcshm,1,120,CPU # Configure Poll thread for nettype
I need this line. How can I define other NETTYPE values?
Can you show me an example of two distinct configurations?

Hi, Thanks to all of you guys. Now I just have one more question: Do I have to install anything in the server so it can communicate using tcp connections, or I just need to change the configuration files? Best regards, Nuno Paquete

IDS and XPS - just configure. SE and OnLine - you must run sqlexecd too. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2005.02 -- http://dbi.perl.org/
