Grant and revoke question
Posted in 2007
This may be a silly question, but I can't seem to work it out from the docs. I have a user (me) who is a DBA user in all the databases. I would like to be able to use that user to grant/revoke permissions on various tables. For grants I can grant <whatever> on <table> to <user> as <owner>; But when I go to revoke, there's no clause analagous to the 'as <owner>' bit, so I get a "warning: permission not revoked" if I try: revoke <whatever> on <table> from <user>; I can use 'set session authorization', but I'm wondering if there's a simpler way to do this, particularly because we have a few objects lying around owned by users who no longer have access to the database (so the 'set session authorization' statement fails). I could get in and manipulate the systabauth table directly, but that strikes me as a dangerous idea. Thanks. DC DOUG CONREY OCI(r) Database Administrator doug_conrey@oci.com 307.772.4193 www.oci.com
