In article <4amuul$gog@cssun.mathcs.emory.edu>, theo@rasdev.rascal.co.za (Theo Kramer) says: > >Hi all, > >I am working with online version 5.0 and need to open more than one connection >to the database. If not is there a version of informix >online that does support this. Note that i am using ESQL/C. Yes, you can do this in a client-server environment. For example we use Gupta SQL Windows to connect to an Online 5.04 database via I-Net and use Windows on the client PCs. Each individual program (*.exe) on a client can have its own database connection, which to the engine are distinct. Thus if you do a commit on one connection the other is not changed. You would then have to pass the data from the committed transaction to the other program, and I guess that you would do this using normal Windows techniques (messages, DDE or whatever ).
