DS 7.11 Logical Logs

I have a question for all you Informix Gurus out there. I recently upgraded our 5.0 engine to 7.11. I left the number of logs and logsize the same. However I am noticing that the logs are now filling up at an alarmingly fast rate. A transaction that is updating one table, 40000 rows, 2 character field is now filling up 12 5mb logs where on 5.01 would only fill up 1 to 1 and a half. This is very concerning as you can imagine. This is a very small transaction compared to other processes I will need to run shortly. So far Tech support has not been able to answer why. An thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
