Performance problem - Upgrade from 4.0 to 5.03 SE

The performance of the system took a nose dive after we upgraded the system from 4.00 SE to 5.03 SE. The system is configured as follow: Hardward. IBM RS6000 7013-560 512 M of memory 656 M of page space ( usually < 50% used ) A 7G RAID box. Software. AIX 3.2.5 SE 5.03 4gl, ID, RDS - 4.1 We did discover a bug that a join for different data type ( ex. join an interger with char ) will take forever. We resolved the problem. Also Informix recommanded to do a dbexport and dbimport. We did that but it did not help the performance. Is the problem related to the difference optimizers is being used in 4.0 and 5.0?
