There also used to be be 4GL as well. 4GL, if I remember, was version 2.1 but I'm not sure what ESQL/C was. C was about MS 4. Stuff of that age was lacking in a few amenities e.g. CURSOR WITH HOLD. Informix "retired" it about a year ago. This leaves an interesting question: if big I won't sell it and Carlos needs it what's the legal position if he finds someone to copy it from? Ian
