Out of shared memory with 2 instances

Hi I am having major shared memory problems on my system since I upgraded from 7.22 to 7.31. I run HP-UX 10.20 on a K460 4Gb memory. 2 instances of Informix 7.31UC3-1 2 instances of Baan IV I think I must be hitting the HP-UX 1.75Gb limit on shared memory. The current setting in the 2 onconfig files are the same :- BUFFERS 200,000 SHMVIRTSIZE 400,000 SHMADD 75,000 SHMTOTAL 0 If we drop the buffers the performance of the box drops off badly, if we drop the SHMVIRTSIZE then we just end up with many additional segments being added. I have about 175 concurrent Baan, Cognos and Impromptu users. We did not have memory problems prior to the upgrade, I assume 7.31 is more memory hungry than 7.22 was? I am considering using chatr to give Informix access to 2.75Gb of shared memory, can anyone share some experiences of doing this, and any potential problems I may encounter. Hi ! Put your SHMVIRTSIZE bigger....app. 950MB ( you have enough memory !). After that, check ipcs -m to be sure that everything is in one segment !. There is no use of using CHATR, because of segments. MAX amount is 2. MAX first segment size is 1 GB. next extent max size is 512 MB. Here we are...maximum is there !.
