onbar backups w/tape rotations
Posted in 2003
Topics: Backup & Restore
Greetings,
I'm in the process of changing our backups from ontape to onbar. I'm
having problems writing to the tapes after they have been changed. The
backups are written to tapes and are on a 2 week rotation (offsite
storage). Does anyone else write their backups off to tapes that are
changed everyday? If so, do you label and mount the tapes each day in a
script? Do you have to do this everytime a new tape is placed into
rotations?
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I am using ISM, no third party storage manager.
I gather you are also using pure ISM from Informix.
I experience that tapes not being able to expire. Even though I set it to
expire
in one day.
After one week, the tapes still could not expire, I have to relabel it and
mount
it again.
I have given up testing it after several months of fruitless thinking, reading
and testing.
