I'm unsure which version of the engine you're using but if it's 7.3 or 8.x then you also have the option to use update joins. Sample syntax would be: UPDATE table_a SET table_a.column_1 = table_b.column_1 FROM table_a, table_b WHERE table_a.column_2 = table_b.column_2 AND table_a.column_3 = '<condition>'; Regards, bc Axel Sander wrote in message <753sp0$i1r$1@news.ipf.de>... >Hi, > >I'm fiddling around with the following SQL problem: > >I have 2 tables 'table1' and 'table2' each having the columns 'flag' >and 'value'. >How can I update table1.flag with the value of table2.flag >where table1.value=table2.value > >The informix manual isn't very helpful on this problem. > >Axel >
