IDS 10 undocumented env?

For a
reason I haven't discovered yet, a script that gathers 'onstat'
information for me is failing. The error message is:
01:30:01 shmat: [22]: operating system error
01:30:01 Client could not attach server shared memory segment, use
IFX_XFER_SHMBASE.
I searched the 10 docs on CD, the $INFORMIXDIR/release dir (10.00.UC3)
and the IDS Information Center online and have found nothing on what
this is.
Anyone??

Addition of IFX_XFER_SHMBASE goes back to 9.21
release and has been carried
forward.
Looks like you are running into PTS#152308.
One of the things that fix does for attaching the segments is:
- Use user supplied address via IFX_XFER_SHMBASE
IFX_XFER_SHMBASE was chosen because this problem can affect
anyone who is using the stream mechanism, that is other than onbar
as well.
For more info please contact TechSupport.
Thanks and Regards,

And how do I use "IFX_XFER_SHMBASE"??

You've got the bug number - that should help. It is likely that you guess an address and set the value of the environment variable to represent that address - like INFORMIXSHMBASE etc. export IFX_XFER_SHMBASE=0 That, unfortunately, is likely to be the default - you probably need a non-zero value. But which non-zero values make sense is hard to guess, which is why you should probably contact Tech Support, like Guarav suggested. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2005.02 -- http://dbi.perl.org/
