Quick HowTo for backup under Windows required
Posted in 2003
After a long period of not using
Informix, I must set up a test
situation. Not only is this on Windows (NT4), its also
a >>very<< long time since I last did this stuff (always on Unix)...
Can somebody give me a quick rundown (or at least point me in the right
direction).
I have a 200GB database on Windows box that has been installed and loaded.
Now I need to ensure backups and restores go as planned.
Method 1
Quick and dirty:
ontape to disk - another system will put the disk onto tape later.
Does this work ?? Can I write lots of 2GB files as a backup ??
Method 2
Better.
On-Bar to disk using ISM.
Release Notes suggest IPX/SPX must be installed - is this really so ?
Anyone have a quick How-To for this scenario ??
Method 3
Best of all
Straight out of the DB into On-Bar and off into our Veritas Netbackup.
Lots of configs here and I would like this as an end result -
But if anyone has a config cheatlist - please share it !!
Last project with IDS used OnArchive - but this isn't on Windows ...
Best regards to all 'Mixers
