YOU may be working for Informix in Portland, but there is no question that Informix is a Silcon Valley company. Hell, when I worked for Informix I was in the NJ office. Does that make Informix a Refinery Alley company ;-)? I find your defensiveness very understandable. Nobody likes seeing their company dissed, especially when they like the company. It feels like a reflection on yourself (i.e. if the company sucks, you must be an idiot for working there). This is, of course, NOT the case. I can only offer you the observation that things look VERY different when you step to the other side of the fence. For one thing, company decisions, especially those affecting product features, are seen very differently from the customer side than the development side. You also have to realize that the company officers are going to be somewhat less than brutally honest when stating the state of affairs to their employees - they don't want to get you spooked and get you to start circulating your resume! While some of what you may read in c.d.i may be overly critical at times in general it is very even-handed, honest, and forthright in its assessment of Informix. In fact, I believe if some of the officers from Informix spent a little time reading this forum, they would have a better handle on the needs of their target audience, and could do better as a company as a result! But that's just MY opinion - I could be wrong. Dave -- Dave Kosenko davek@summitdata.com Director of Training Services (732) 469-4070 Summit Data Group (an Informix Authorized Education Center)
