Try increase the temp dbspace size if you have configured dbspaces under DBSPACETEMP. (or) if not, increase the file system size of /tmp and try running the update stats high command. This error occurs due to lack of temp dbspace space. Informix/IBM administrations manuals are the best resources for every bit of information.
