I've used MS SQL Server, Sybase, Illustra and now Informix. The Unix products are more scalable than MS's SQL Server and can be faster under heavy loads. MS will of course say that they are scalable too, but from what I've heard is that NT gets a performance degradation after 4 processors. MS's SQL Server 6.5 does do parallel scans - OTOH Informix is *heavily* optimized for parallel performance (scans, joins, grouping and so on). I will admit MS's products are easier to administer\\configure. On that note - SQL Server would be good for low cost workgroup configurations where administration and cost is more important than scalability\\performance. You'd probably get some really good ammo from Informix Sales if you told them your problem (they may even send someone out if it means keeping a client). Its a matter of 'help me out and we may be able to keep your product'. Good Luck, glen@earthweb.com <include standard disclaimer> scalabilit
