CPU VPs & logical buffer util. & read ahead util.
Posted in 1999
Topics: Storage & Space Management, Server Administration, Logging & Checkpoints, Networking & sqlhosts Configuration
Hi All,
Hoping someone can give me some pointers regarding my config.
Thanks in advance.
HP K460
4 CPUS
4Gb Memory
2 instances of Informix OnLine
2 Baan instances
150+ users connecting via 6 client servers (HP K460s)
All Baan connections are made via socket connections.
We have specified 2 CPU VPs for each instance. Looking at the distribution
of CPU time on the onstat -g sch we appear to have one very heavily used VP
and one doing very little.
Is this a problem, if so what might we change.
We also appear to have a problem with the logical buffer utilisation. We
are getting an alarm when we run oncockpit that says the utilisation is too
low (0.501738).
We are also being warned that the read ahead utilisation is too low
(0.968807). Any thoughts?
