New information. I tried installing on a third machine. First though, I installed DBI 1.43, then the Informix CSDK. Both installed seemingly flawlessly. Then I tried DBD::Informix and it again dumped core (segmentation fault) at the same place when running 'perl Makefile.PL'. This third computer has some significant horsepower, yet it still failed. You were right that its failure is irrelevant to PC specs. I also brought over the compiled esqltest program from the box where it works and tried running it on a box that doesn't, and the program failed (segmentation fault)... So it must be the CSDK. But I'm still trying to find out why it runs on one machine and not another configured almost identically... Mark
