<!doctype html public "-//w3c//dtd html 4.0 transitional//en"> <html> Hi, <p>I keep on encountering a problem with the Informix Client SDK library <br>(All Versions) MS Access cannot sort using this ODBC driver (except it <br>seems to sort ok on keys). It keeps on comming up with an -309 error, below is the error description. <p>------------ <br>ORDER BY column or expression must be in SELECT list. <p>An expression or column name is in the ORDER BY clause of this SELECT statement, but the expression or column name is not in the select list (the list of values that follows the word SELECT). This action is not supported when a UNIQUE or DISTINCT operator is being used in a query. <p>When a UNIQUE or DISTINCT operator is being used in a query, all sort keys must be present in the output rows to determine the true order. Revise the statement to follow this rule. <br>----------- <p>Is there any way to fix this. <p>I'm currently using Informix CLient SDK 2.6 and 2.3, with MS Access 97 <br>(I think it happens on 2000 as well, although not sure). <p>Cheers <p>Miles Roper <br> <br> </html>

Hi, you might try to fix this problem of the Intersolv 3.11 driver with a workaround you can find at http://www.merant.com/products/datadirect/download/docs/odbc/Readme/95ntread.htm WorkArounds=1073741824 The problem is, that you get the same error afterwards when you try to sort on keys. We used this workaround for some time, but regularly used unsorted selects and did the sorts in reports where all works fine. I hope I could help you, Regards, Volker Kaufmann Universität Freiburg
