David have made some suggestions, and I have added more earlier in this same thread. (Look for the thread on http://www.dejanes.com if you can't otherwise easily see the whole thread. The thread isn't there yet, but should be in a day or two. (Something must be slow right now at Dejanews.) What you should use for the AFC? It isn't yet available so you can't use it yet. It does have all too good spesifications though. Microsoft know how to make GUI components and what needs to be included. I hear that the IFC from Netscape is very well written. It's free, including runtime and can be downloaded from the Netscape site (somewhere in the developers section). They want you to pay US$95 for further access to developers information and support, but that isn't expensive. They lack several important components currently, like tool/button bars, tree view, grid, tabed dialog box and some other. Some of these may come with Symantec Visual Cafee or other tools you may want to use. Others should be available via info on the Netscape site althoug I haven't looked there yet. Another resource is http://www.gamelan.com. IBM may also be a place to look. http://www.ibm.com/java/home.html is one starting place or also http://www.software.ibm.com/ I haven't tested anything seriously yet. I am waiting for support of the 1.1 JDK in Symantec Visual Cafe. Any week now (or even any day?). This situation isn't easy. You may mail Sun/Javasoft And tell them what you need and that they should make it available. At the level of the AFC they must - eventually.
