I dont think the relay module is that much }slower though Ive never used it on a 4.X database } page and row level locking differentiation exists only in OnLine environments. SE uses the UNIX file management. I think you'd have to look at what benefits your old version Tools (4GL 4.x) would get out of the newer version Servers & Connectivity (SE 7.x). I recall somewhere (Installation Guide in your Informix media box?) that there is a matrix with this information. Aside from this, your best bets are version specific tuning (kernel parameters, placement of data on disk, re-indexing, update statistics, etc). I would advise upgrading your Tools to 6.x (look at 6.04 or 6.03) to get better behaviour. Why did you decide not to upgrade the tools with the server? }> }>My idea is this: On the Unix system, continue to use the SE 4.0 engine to }>access the database, but still run the 7.12 sqlexecd so ODBC can be used to }>access the database.
