sqlerrd1 question

Hi, I'm trying to write a function in VC that is passed a connection (Informix via ADO though VB) that then returns sqlerrd1 (i.e. the serial value of the inserted row). Can someone tell me what the return type of sqlerrd[1] is (long?) Do I access sqlerrd[1] via the ITConnection object? myresult = ITConnection(sqlca.sqlerrd[1]); gives me error C2440: 'type cast' : cannot convert from 'long' to 'class ITConnection' No constructor could take the source type, or constructor overload resolution was ambiguous. How do I cast this?? Apologies if I'm talking rubbish - I not really familiar with VC or the Informix C++ Interface. Even assuming compilation, am I making an assumption that I can treat an ADO connection made through VB in the same way as a connection created via Informix C++ interface (ITConnection myConn(myDBInfo);) Any help would be greatly appreciated.
