Now they asked me to look at <SNIP> > BTW V5 is pre-Y2K.... <SNIP> Actually Versions of 5.xx prior to 5.14 are not Y2K compliant, later releases, inluding the current 5.20 release are. Of course 5.05 is earlier than 5.11 so you're not wrong. But, there are more problems than that. OL 5.05 was an attempt to streamline the communications protocols and it failed miserably, fixed in 5.6. Versions prior to 5.07 had a bug that permitted a table to 'grow' past the 16MM page limit but what actually happened was that the page numbers wrapped overwriting earlier data pages and so trashing indexes and losing data. Versions prior to 5.08 would miss pages during an archive on a busy system and so restores MAY not restore all data. Restoring to an existing system the data for missing pages may still be on disk so you may not notice. However, if you restore to a new system or to a partner machine, there will be holes in the data. And of course attempting to recover from a disaster can be, well, disastrous! All in all, GET AN UPDATE FOR THESE FOLK! Art S. Kagel
