Go back to the shipped onconfig and change the absolute minimum to get
the engine started. Was the kernel rebuilt and the changes were
applied?
Download a copy of trace and see what the oninit is doing. What is
the exit code of the oninit process

Where can you get trace from? I've tried look for it for SCO
Openserver 5..
