Hi! I'd like to know if anyone has move maximum capacity in the third parameter in RAISE EXCEPTION FUNCTION, because I can't find information about how to resize this text parameter. For example if I try to do this: RAISE EXCEPTION -746,0,'Hello.. I'm trying to display this entire message error, but it's not possible to accomplish this, because it's truncated.'; Message appears incomplete! What can i do to increment this parameter? Is there a Informix tuning or trick? Thank's in advance! Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/

That's because there isn't a way to resize short of recompiling the entire product. > For example if I try to do this: > > RAISE EXCEPTION -746,0,'Hello.. The limit will be 71 or 72 characters at most, based on the fact that it gets relayed through the sqlca.sqlerrm field, which is 72 characters long. Don't get too fancy with your raised exception messages. And yes, there is a problem in that column names can be 128 characters long and the column name is often returned as the contents of the sqlca.sqlerrm field; ditto, mutatis mutandis for table names, constraint names, etc. -- Yours, Jonathan Leffler (Jonathan.Leffler@Informix.com) #include <disclaimer.h> Guardian of DBD::Informix v1.00.PC1 -- http://www.perl.com/CPAN "I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it!"
