Hi to all, Please need help for know how can I do to load all database in ram memory, I have enough memory in the server, aprox 4 Gb, and have 10.00.UC3R1 IDS engine on Suse 9.0 SLES My database not is bigger, have aprox down to 1 Gb. The idea is have more performance in my net, because I have up to 250 sessions. Please any comentary, be great help to me. thanks in advance. regards, Willy Calderon

Pretty much you just need to allocate 2Gb of buffers (or as much as you can). All active portions of your database will end up in RAM.
In your ONCONFIG file set BUFFERS (of the #buffers in the BUFFERPOOL entry for the pagesize of your buffer pool) to 1024000. That will allocate 2GB of main memory for database buffers. All of the active records in your database will eventually end up in memory. If your database uses multiple page sizes you'll have to allocate those buffers to the various pools associated with each page size by estimating the number of active pages on disk for each pagesize. You are running a 32bit version of IDS, so you may not be able to allocate much more than 2GB of memory. (Various OSes differ as to how much memory a 32bit application can address. It varies from about 1.4GB to about 3.4GB but I don't know how much Linux allows.) Art S.
