NUMCPUVPS on 4 CPU Sun Hardware

Hi everyone! I was wondering how many CPU VPs to allocate on a 4 CPU Sun Hardware. I've read somewhere that some Operating Systems use a particular CPU for interrupts. Is Solaris such an OS? Anyway, my question is: Should I allot 3 or 4 CPU VPs? You should always start with allocating only 1 CPUvp no matter the number of physical CPU in your machine. I would recommend this... 1. Allocate 1 CPUvp. 2. Monitor the workload and thread queue. 3. If the queue is getting long, then allocate 1 more CPUvp. Back to step 2. Note: Number of CPUvp <= Number of physical CPU. leekb@bigfoot.com On Tue, 09 Feb 1999 21:26:55 GMT, zandy@my-dejanews.com wrote: >Hi everyone! > >I was wondering how many CPU VPs to allocate on a >4 CPU Sun Hardware.
