How can I calcul the space needed before exporting a database>

Hi all, I would like to know exact the space needed before exporting a informix database...I wonder if someone know that..I'm newbie in informix... Thank you in advance. H.V

H.V., I don't think there's a way to calculate exactly, but you can do an "oncheck -ct <database>" and look at the "number of data pages" for all of the tables that aren't system catalogs. If you add all of these up and multiply by your pagesize, that will give you a rough estimate. You'll actually need somewhat less space than this, because exported CHAR fields don't pad out the way they do internally in the database.
